The winter months are quickly approaching, which means it is nearing the time to say, “see you next spring” to your beautiful outdoor living space.
How can you protect your patio from the elements? We’ve outlined four tips to below to help you prepare for winter.
- Do not use a metal shovel. While we recommend shoveling your patio often to remove any snow or ice, we do not recommend utilizing a metal shovel as it can causing chipping. Instead, opt for a plastic shovel or snow blower.
- Clean patio before heavy snowfall. Clean your patio of any debris with water before winter sets-in and stays. In addition, remove any furniture from your outdoor living area.
- Use a sealer. If you have a precipitation-free day that is above freezing, a sealer is a good solution to protect against cracking and contracting (both caused by moisture).
- Do not use ice-melt on your patio. Ice melt and salt can cause erosion, discoloration and cracking. We do not recommend utilizing these products on your patio.
